Hommage à Hans Frick
Hans Frick is my grandfather and was a trusted officer of General Guisan during WWII. It was he who proposed to the General to withdraw the army into the mountain fortress. Guisan tried to make of him a “peace-time General”, a primus inter pares amongst the 7 top commanders. The parliament cancelled the appointment right after the war ended. Hans was not only incredibly kind, he was also exceedingly tough with himself and others. He had the most uncompromising attitude of any person I have met.
